I hope you will consider participating in this competition. The CPHS competition will be either January 7 at 4:10. The competition will be after school in the Black Box. See Ms. Blake for details. You need to memorize 20 lines of a monologue from the Riverside Edition of Shakespeare and one sonnet. I have the copy of the Riverside Edition for you to make copies from. You only have to have the 20 lines memorized for the CPHS competition and the sonnet will be added if you are the winner at CPHS.
The winner of the Cedar Park High School Competition will go on to the Shakespeare Competition held by the Austin Branch of the English-Speaking Union. This competition will be held at Austin High School on Tuesday, January 25, at 4:45PM. The ESU Branch winner, who will receive a $150 prize from the Austin Branch, will then be awarded an all-expense-paid trip to New York City for the National Competition at Lincoln Center in April. In addition to the opportunity to compete, the ESU Branch winner enjoys a weekend of workshops and sightseeing in New York, and the chance to meet 60 other Branch winners from around the country. First prize for the winner of the National Shakespeare Competition is a summer acting course at the British American Drama Academy (BADA) in Great Britain. Second prize is a $1,000 cash award, and third prize is $500 from the Shakespeare Society.
CPHS Theatre
